Magnesium anodes alloy AZ63 (ASTMB 843-93) with backfill, are used in cathodic protection of buried metal structures (piping gas - water tanks, etc..), where are required low values protective current and resistivity of land does not exceed 40 ohms x meter. To have a superior electrolyte contact with soil, magnesium anodes are supplied package with backfill : consists of a mixture of 5% sodium sulphate, 20% bentonite and 75% of gypsum, containing on cotton bag ; this mixture makes for action to increase anode efficiency, thus limiting the passivation potential while maintaining and ensuring a more stable uniform consumption. Our anode is supplied with a cable type XLPE/PVC IEC 502 FG07R 0.6 / 1 Kv suitable for installation without conduit and it is sized to be adequate for the maximum current can be supplied from the anode and standard length are 2.5 meters. For each delivery will be issued a certificate of laboratory analysis with the electrochemical characteristics We can produced anodes on customer request with specification weight and cable length.

What is Magnesium anode?
Magnesium Anodes are used in the Corrosion Control industry. In a process known as Cathodic Protection, Sacrificial Anodes are connected by a cable to an underground natural gas pipe, an oil or water pipe, a propane tank or other such structure. The anode acts like a battery, giving off a low-voltage electrical current so that, over time, the anode corrodes but the structure that is being protected remains like new. Cathodic Protection using magnesium and other types of anodes prevents costly repairs and leaks. Extruded Magnesium Anodes are used to extend the life of home and commercial water heaters.
