On March 12, 2024, the Management Executive Committee (GECEX) of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Commission issued Resolution No. 569 of 2024, which made the final decision on the second anti-dumping sunset review of unforged magnesium (Portuguese: magn é sio met á lico em forms brutas) originating from Russia with a magnesium content of at least 99.8% by weight. The decision was made to continue to impose an anti-dumping duty of $890.73 per ton on the Russian products involved, with a validity period of 5 years. The tariff number of the products involved in the case is 8104.11.00. This resolution shall come into effect from the date of its publication.
On June 7, 2011, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat issued Announcement No. 29 of 2011, in response to an application submitted by Brazilian domestic enterprise Rima Industrial S.A., to initiate an anti-dumping investigation against unwrought magnesium originating from Russia. On April 23, 2012, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Commission issued Resolution No. 24, which made a positive final ruling on the case and decided to impose an anti-dumping duty of $890.73 per ton on Russian products involved in the case, with a validity period of 5 years. On April 20, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat issued Announcement No. 20 of 2017, initiating the first anti-dumping sunset review investigation on unwrought magnesium originating from Russia. On March 28, 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Commission issued Resolution No. 18 of 2018, making a positive final ruling on the sunset review of anti-dumping investigations on Unforged Magnesium originating from Russia. It was decided to continue to impose an anti-dumping duty of $890.73 per ton on Russian products involved in the case, with a validity period of 5 years and ending on March 28, 2023.
On April 6, 2023, the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (Minist é riodo Desenvolvimento, Ind ú stria, Com é rcio e Servi ç os/Secretaria de Com é rcio External) issued Announcement No. 10 of 2023, launching the second anti-dumping sunset review investigation against unwrought magnesium originating in Russia with a magnesium content of at least 99.8% by weight. The anti-dumping investigation period for the case is from October 2021 to September 2022, and the injury investigation period is from October 2017 to September 2022.
