Sacrificial Anode Zinc Ribbon Zinc Anode For Above / under Ground Storage Tanks Pipes
Zinc Ribbon Anode are used in a variety of applications. They provide a very simple ,cost effective, maintenance-free method of corrosion control for buried or immersed metals such as iron, steel, aluminium ,copper, etc. It is especially useful for unattended applications. It can also be used as a temporary system prior to the installation of an impressed current system and as a method of providing AC mitigation.
Typical Uses:
- External areas of steel pipe, especially in difficult environment such as below grade in rocky and mountainous terrain thawed zones in permafrost, etc.
- Interior bottom of oil storage tanks.
- Interstitial spaces between old, corroded and new storage tank bottoms.
- In the limited space between inner and outer casings of wells of various kinds.
- For grounding steel tower footings of overhead power systems.
- To provide cathodic protection as well as to dissipate induced A.C.current on coated steel pipe.
- For personnel safety, as well as corrosion protection. To ground valves and test stations of pipe lines which are subject to induced A.C.current and fault currents.

Application:
Zinc Hull Anodes are designed for the protection of various types of vessels such as ships, barges, and tankers. Anodes are available in many configurations including weld-on and bolt-on mounting systems.
Zinc Ballast Tank Anodes are typically used on tankers and large vessels. Several configurations are offered for various types of mounting options that may include welding or bolting onto the structure.
Zinc Anodes for Bulkheads are typically used where Cathodic Protection is required on a wall within the hull of a ship, vehicle, or container.
Zinc Anodes for Piers and Pilings are typically used around docks and harbors.
Zinc Bracelet Anodes for pipelines are used in underground, under mud or under seawater.
Zinc Heat Exchanger and Condenser Anodes are specifically designed for use on heat transfer equipment.
Zinc Soil Anodes are used where soil conditions require the use of Zinc Anodes such as saline mud below 120 F (50 C). These anodes would protect objects underground such a storage tanks, containers, and buried structures.
Zinc Anodes for Other Applications may include anode configurations such as plates, disks or other geometries.
Seawater is inherently corrosive and this is even more pronounced in the case of components that are made of two different metals. Any time two metals are in contact in seawater they will form a battery and one of the two metals will give up its electrons to create the current that flows between the two metals. This process is known as galvanic corrosion and unless you want your boat to begin failing you it is important that we halt this process before it begins. This is done by using a third metal which will more readily give up electrons to create a current. In boating zinc is most commonly used and the zinc pieces are called zinc anodes, or more commonly just zincs.
