Product Description
The 33-inch magnesium anode rod is purpose-built to maximize the service life of electric water heaters. Through sacrificial galvanic action, this anode rod attracts corrosive elements away from the steel tank interior, preventing rust formation, sediment buildup, and the pinhole leaks that commonly end a water heater's useful life prematurely.
Electric water heaters are particularly susceptible to galvanic corrosion due to the interaction between the steel tank, copper heating elements, and dissolved minerals in the water. A high-purity magnesium anode rod provides the necessary electrochemical potential to protect all internal components, ensuring years of trouble-free operation.
- AZ63 High-Purity Magnesium Alloy: Formulated to deliver consistent electrochemical activity throughout the rod's service life, ensuring uninterrupted tank protection.
- Optimized 0.9-Inch Diameter: Provides a larger sacrificial mass compared to standard 0.84-inch rods, delivering extended protection intervals and fewer replacement cycles.
- Precision 3/4 NPT Threading: Machined to exacting tolerances for a secure, leak-free fit in all standard electric water heater anode ports.
- Comprehensive Internal Protection: Shields the steel tank walls, copper heating elements, and welded seams from electrolytic corrosion caused by hard water minerals and dissolved solids.
- Sediment Reduction: By preventing tank wall corrosion, the anode rod reduces the formation of rust particles that accumulate as sediment at the tank bottom, maintaining heating efficiency.
- Cost-Effective Maintenance: A properly functioning anode rod can double or triple water heater lifespan, saving hundreds of dollars in premature replacement costs.
Shut off power and water supply before installation. Drain approximately 2 gallons of water to lower the level below the anode port. Use a 1-1/16 inch socket for removal and installation. Apply PTFE tape to threads for a watertight seal. Inspect annually and replace when rod diameter is reduced by 50% or more.
Each rod is individually sealed in VCI anti-corrosion packaging and placed in a box with protective foam cushioning. Bulk orders are packed in export-grade master cartons with moisture-barrier lining.
