This dual-ceramic composite strike face represents a breakthrough in armor material engineering. By combining pressureless sintered SiC as the front strike layer with B4C R400 as the rear defeat layer, we achieve NIJ Level IV protection with an optimal balance of cost, weight, and multi-hit performance that neither material could deliver alone.
- SiC Strike Layer: The front 8mm pressureless sintered SiC layer provides superior multi-hit toughness and fracture resistance. SiC's higher fracture toughness (3.5-4.0 MPa*m1/2) absorbs initial projectile impact energy and blunts the penetrator tip through controlled micro-fracture
- B4C R400 Defeat Layer: The rear 7mm B4C R400 layer capitalizes on extreme hardness (3000+ HV) to defeat the already-blunted penetrator, with ultra-low density minimizing overall plate weight
- Synergistic Interface: The polyurethane interlayer between SiC and B4C acts as an acoustic impedance mismatch, reflecting shock waves and further dissipating impact energy
