Product Description
Silicon carbide ceramic is a hard material, but it is also more brittle. Boron carbide combines higher micro hardness with better impact resistance, which is why B4C nozzles hold their bore diameter longer in demanding blasting work.
| Property | Boron Carbide (B4C) | Silicon Carbide (SiC) |
|---|---|---|
| Micro Hardness | ≥ 3500 kgf/mm² | ~ 2500-2800 kgf/mm² |
| Melting Point | 2450 °C | 2730 °C |
| Impact Toughness | Higher | Brittle |
| Bore Wear Rate | Lower | Higher |
Chipping at the nozzle mouth is a common failure mode for ceramic nozzles. The tougher B4C structure resists edge chipping, keeping the blast pattern round and the cleaning speed consistent.
Replacement for silicon carbide ceramic nozzles in cabinet blasters and hand-held blasting equipment.
Send us the failed nozzle or its dimensions, and we will confirm the matching boron carbide replacement within 24 hours.
