Product Description
Magnesium Anodes are used in the Corrosion Control industry. In a process known as Cathodic Protection, Sacrificial Anodes are connected by a cable to an underground natural gas pipe, an oil or water pipe, a propane tank or other such structure. The anode acts like a battery, giving off a low-voltage electrical current so that, over time, the anode corrodes but the structure that is being protected remains like new. Cathodic Protection using magnesium and other types of anodes prevents costly repairs and leaks. Extruded Magnesium Anodes are used to extend the life of home and commercial water heaters.
We supply D-Shaped Cast Magnesium Anodes of both High Potential and Regular Potential (AZ 63C) alloys. The sizes range from 3D3 to 48D5 and 60-pound anodes. Round High Potential one-pound Anodes are also available, as are condenser anodes and all sizes of Extruded Anodes and Magnesium Ribbon.

Magnesium anodes fight corrosion effectively and economically, and are commonly used in marine environments. They protect a variety of steel structures in salt, brackish and fresh water, including:
- Boats
- Ballast tanks
- Bulkheads
- Water storage tanks
- Pilings
- Pipelines
- Heat exchangers
Magnesium anodes corrode much more easily than the materials they are protecting, drawing the corrosion away from equipment.
