Product Description
The B4C-V35-06 is a precision-engineered venturi-type sandblasting nozzle manufactured from hot pressed boron carbide (B4C), one of the hardest ceramic materials available for industrial blast applications. With a Mohs hardness of 9.3, B4C is surpassed only by cubic boron nitride and diamond, making it the ideal material for high-wear blast nozzle applications.
Unlike conventional silicon carbide (SiC) nozzles that rely on reaction bonding or pressureless sintering, our hot pressed B4C nozzles achieve near-theoretical density (≥2.48 g/cm³) through simultaneous application of high temperature (2100-2200°C) and uniaxial pressure during manufacturing. This results in:
- 3-5x longer service life compared to silicon carbide nozzles under identical blasting conditions
- Superior wear resistance due to the elimination of micro-porosity inherent in pressureless sintered ceramics
- Consistent bore geometry throughout the entire service life, maintaining precise blast pattern and velocity
- Higher thermal shock resistance than SiC, reducing cracking from rapid temperature cycling
The venturi geometry of the B4C-V35-06 accelerates abrasive particles to velocities up to 200 m/s, significantly higher than straight bore nozzles. This provides:
- 30-40% higher blasting productivity compared to straight bore nozzles of equivalent orifice size
- More uniform abrasive distribution across the blast pattern
- Reduced air consumption per unit area cleaned
