Product Description
This CuZr40 master alloy is a specialized zirconium additive designed for precise grain refinement in high-performance aluminum alloys, particularly the 7xxx series (Al-Zn-Mg-Cu) used in aerospace structural applications. The copper-based carrier ensures rapid dissolution and uniform zirconium distribution in the aluminum melt.
- Al3Zr Dispersoid Formation: Zirconium reacts with aluminum to form coherent L12-structured Al3Zr dispersoids during homogenization, effectively pinning grain boundaries and suppressing recrystallization during hot working and solution heat treatment
- Grain Structure Control: Provides uniform fine equiaxed grain structure in cast and wrought products, improving mechanical isotropy and reducing anisotropy in rolled plates and forgings
- Stress Corrosion Resistance: Finer grain structure combined with dispersoid distribution significantly enhances stress corrosion cracking resistance in aggressive environments
- Superplastic Forming Enablement: Stabilized fine grain structure permits superplastic forming of complex aerospace components at elevated temperatures
| Industry | Alloy Systems | Component Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Aerospace | 7050, 7055, 7085, 7449 | Wing spars, fuselage frames, bulkheads |
| Defense | 7039, 7017 | Armor plate, missile components |
| Automotive | 7xxx casting alloys | Lightweight chassis, EV battery trays |
Each batch is certified with ICP-OES chemical analysis, XRD phase identification, and dissolution testing in standard 7050 alloy melt. Full traceability from raw materials to finished product. Custom Zr content and form factor available upon request.
