Product Description
Magnesium Anodes are available as either bare or plastisol coated. Alloy is typically H-1, Grade A (AZ-63).
Magnesium Anodes have a more negative potential than Aluminum Anodes or Zinc Anodes and are more suitable for areas where the electrolyte (soil or water) resistivity is higher. Magnesium Anodes are generally used on vessels in fresh water environments and in water heaters/boilers.
In some cases, the higher negative potential of magnesium can be a disadvantage. If the potential of the protected metal becomes too negative, hydrogen may be released from the cathode surface which may lead to accelerated corrosion.
